YPlan is a curated events discovery and ticket booking app that makes it as simple as two taps of a smartphone to enjoy an amazing night out.
Founded in London in 2012, the brainchild of Lithuanian co-founders Rytis Vitkauskas and Viktoras Jucikas. Its impressive website and top-rated app has grown grown their business to multiple cities across the UK, US and Ireland.
YPlan takes advantage of the empty seats event organisers find themselves with in the last few hours before showtime. YPlan offers regular perks such as access to sold-out shows, invitation-only events, VIP upgrades, freebies and ludicrous discounts on the hottest events in town.
It has been downloaded several million times across the world and is installed on nearly one-third of London’s iPhones. In late 2016 the company was purchased outright by The Time Out Group.
In late 2015 and early 2016 YPlan were interested in expanding their business to the Bristol and South West region. Bristol has a particularly vibrant night time economy - with hundreds of parties, clubs, bars, restaurants, museums and cultural pursuits. Making it the logical next step for their expansion within the UK.
LOUDD was recommended by a London based promoter who had already been working with YPlan, as the company to help them get to all the right people quickly.
After our initial meeting it was clear to expand into the city they would need to explain the app's benefits face to face with Bristol's nightclub management, event promoters, restaurant owners, festival organisers and key cultural influencers.
Further discussions with their Bristol partner development manager Matt led to us identifying several key strategic targets and agreeing a deal to do PR outreach for YPlan, with key performance indicators in place. Following on from this we spent time emailing, calling and speaking with our numerous contacts in these industries. We then arranged three full intensive days of meetings, which we also attended, to help pitch the app and its many benefits to our contacts. Before each meeting we identified the app's key applicable benefits for each contact and provided advice on how best to pitch it to them.
LOUDD provided the strategic local insight that kick started YPlan's expansion and allowed a significant time save in doing so.
Our relationship developed further with YPlan, requesting quotations for organising branded launch events in the city and additional marketing activities, however, this was ultimately curtailed by the companies restructuring and eventual sale.
The Result: 75% of outreach resulted in a positive outcome, where either a partner relationship was developed or a ticketing allocation was achieved.
